Airports Authority of India (AAI) is committed to making a positive impact on communities and environment. The organization aims to achieve, consolidate and strengthen good corporate governance including socially and environmentally responsible business practices that balance financial profit with social well-being.

As a socially responsible enterprise, AAI is committed to serve the society and is making efforts to enhance the quality of life of the people from the underprivileged sections of the society, especially those residing near its airports. AAI is continuously exploring the opportunities where it can serve the society and is therefore, gradually increasing its expenditure on Corporate Social Responsibility and welfare activities. Over the years in a bid to be socially responsible, AAI has undertaken a number of CSR and welfare initiatives. Some of these initiatives are enumerated below:

Skills Development Programme

AAI and Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) signed two MoU’s for “Employment-Oriented Training & Skill Development programme of unemployed youth SC/ST/OBC Women and EWS of Society for 2000 persons “PAN INDIA and North East Region for Rs 10.59 Crore each. This programme is for underprivileged/poor section of society, specifically for the Northeastern region of India.

Mechanized Central Kitchen for Mid-day Meal in Assam

AAI has signed an MoU with the State Govt. of Assam and Akshaya Patra for Rs 15.71 Crore for construction and setup of a Mechanized Central Kitchen in Assam for providing mid-day meals. This will serve under-privileged and poor children going to Govt. schools access to Nutritious, Warm and Healthy food.

Constructions of Toilets, Drinking Water and Other Infrastrucutre in Government Schools

Since 2014-15 AAI, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), under the ‘SwachhVidyalaya’ initiative, AAI has constructed more than 1500 toilets in approximately 800 government schools, thereby benefitting more than 100,000 underprivileged students studying there. Till March 31, 2018, more than Rs. 29Crores has been spent on the construction of these toilets.

  • Installation of Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines & incinerators at various schools / community centers / slum areas and awareness camps in 20 cities
  • Providing Radiotherapy Equipment (Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy) in Govt. Hospital, Chennai
  • Low Energy Linear Accelerator for Cancer unit AIIMS, Rishikesh
  • Community Hall
  • Providing Funds for Pharmacy and Medical Canteen cum waiting hall
  • Providing Funds for Cochlear Implant Surgery to ALIMCO for Under-Privileged Children
  • AAI dedicates Rs 5 Cr. towards Empowering people against Hepatitis through Empathy Campaign
  • Promoting Holistic Sustainable Development of Human Settlements at villages

CSR initiatives undertaken by the Airports Authority of India have benefitted a large number of people especially communities residing around AAI airports which are also recognized from time to time. As a responsible PSU, AAI is dedicated to serve the society by bringing confidence and dignity to communities residing near Airports. The organizational mission is to enhance the quality of life of the people from underprivileged sections of the society.
